I am a guy who is into guys – where can I go for STI testing in Calgary?
One of the most common questions we get at SafeLink Alberta related to sexually transmitted and blood borne infection (STBBI) testing is where can I go that will meet my needs, respect my identity and orientation, all while maintaining my confidentiality?
The answer to this question I can happily say is there are a few options you can consider as a guy into guys.
SafeLink Alberta partners with the Alberta Health Services Safeworks Harm Reduction Team to provide full STBBI testing in community venues beyond the STI clinic for specific populations.
You can access the regular Friday night testing clinic that is held at Goliaths Saunatel 308B – 17th Avenue SW between 4:00 – 7:00 pm either booking an appointment time or accessing through the available drop in option provided.
Secondly you can access the SafeLink Alberta Calgary office for a testing clinic with Safeworks Harm Reduction Team on the 1st and 3rd Thursday of each month between 1:00 – 3:00 pm also with a booked appointment time or drop in option available as well.
All testing clinics provided are done so in a non-judgemental, confidential, and respectful manner. You will only be contacted after testing if there is a positive result for an STBBI that would require treatment and possible partner contact tracing that can be provided by an Alberta Health Services partner notification nurse. Again, all your information remains confidential.
Be sure to keep in mind that STBBI testing is a critical, important part of your health and wellness and get tested every 3 months if you are sexually active and annually as part of your regular family visit to your doctor.
