Sexually Transmitted & Blood-Borne Infections

What is a STBBI?

A sexually transmitted infection (STI) is an infection that can be transmitted from one person to another through sexual contact including oral sex. Blood borne infections (BBI) are transmitted by contact with blood that contains a virus. Some infections may be transmitted through both sexual contact and contact with blood.

While most people have heard of STIs, we prefer to use the term STBBI to be more inclusive capture the scope of more infections. Our mission At SafeLink Alberta, we work is to reduce the transmission of STBBIs
