Introducing: Mental Health, Substance Use, and the Trades Workshop

Alisha OstbergBlog, drug use, employment, harm reduction

Since 2018, 3773 men in Alberta aged 20-49 have died due to drug toxicity. In Calgary, April of 2023 recorded the most accidental drug toxicity deaths. The Alberta trades industry comprises approximately 84% men, and 71% are between the ages of 25-54. Due to this dominant demographic and the unique risk factors present within the trades, more robust mental health and substance use education is required.
