This 2-part training will focus on utilizing a harm reduction approach to discuss best practices when supporting people who use substances, with a focus on people who use methamphetamine. Topics of discussion will include the cycle of addiction/cycle of change, the impact of substances on the brain, and patterns of use associated with methamphetamines, as well as drug use trends in Southern Alberta, including commonly used substances, harm reduction supplies, and safer using techniques. Participants will be provided tools and best practices to help reduce barriers to services and support and address health inequities when supporting people use psychoactive substances.
