SUMMARY:Mental Health and Substance Use in the Trades
DESCRIPTION:The trades are one of the largest industries in North America. In Canada\, people in the trades are disproportionately impacted by the consequences associated with poor mental health and substance use.\nWithin the participatory action approach\, SafeLink Alberta conducted an environmental scan using semi-structured qualitative interviews with people in trades\, post-secondary institutions\, and several other industry professionals. \nUsing the results of our research\, we developed this workshop to provide participants with a more robust understanding of the factors contributing to the increased risks of developing mental health and substance-use related issues in the trades. \nWe do this while also expanding participants’ skills in supporting themselves and their coworkers and developing coping skills to improve their own mental health. \nThis workshop is approximately three hours in length and is recommended for everyone in the Trades industry\, from General Managers to Administrative Coordinators\, Project Managers to Field Technicians. Mental Health and substance use can affect everyone\, and we should all be informed. \nOur workshop is free for all Trades companies\, large and small. The only qualification is that you have an interest in strengthening your EDI knowledge and practices. \n\nUpon completion of the workshop\, all participants will be awarded a certificate to acknowledge their achievement.\nYou can register for this training here. \n  \n\n\nNeed training for a team?\nOrganizations booking four or more slots can explore our team training options for a tailored learning experience. \n  \nHave Questions?\nContact us at education@safelinkalberta.ca \n  \n\n\n\n\nThis project has been made possible through funding from the Calgary Foundation.\n  \n\nRegister for Mental Health and Substance Use in the Trades here.
